The old time religion

Faith of our fathers, living still,
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
When eer we hear that glorious Word!

(Faith of our fathers, holy faith!)
(We will be true to thee till death).

Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
Were still in heart and conscience free
How sweet would be their children's fate
If they, like them, could die for thee

(Faith of our fathers, holy faith!)
(We will be true to thee till death).

Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife;
And preach Thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.

(Faith of our fathers, holy faith!)
{We will be true to thee till death}

A fervent faith and a flaming tongue

A soul redeemed through the blood of the Lamb.

A heart yearning for Glory land. Just think of stepping on shore and finding it heaven!

The old time religion is that faith aquired when a sinner hears the Fathers call and senses the brooding of the Holy Ghost over his dark, dead soul bringing him to the place of brokeness and contrition, realizing his sinful state, knowing his soul is hell bound and that above everything else in this life or the next, he desperately needs a Savior .

He comes by faith, believing that Jesus Christ took his sin upon himself as the sacrificial lamb slain on the cross of Calvary. He confesses his sin and commits his body, soul and love to Christ.

He believes that God has raised Jesus from the dead and that Christ is alive forever and is his intercessor, his advocate with the Father. Christ is his best friend but also his Lord and master. He will follow his Lord even to the cross.

The olde time religion preaches the torment of hell for the unbelieving, the joy of heaven for the saints, the necessity of personal holiness and seperation from the world.

The old time religion believes and preaches the Word of God boldly and without apology. It knows the difference between black and white, right and wrong, sin and righteousness.

And

The old time religion looks with joyful expectation to the soon return of the Savior

Christ Jesus the Lord.
